Field supervisor - rank store-visit findings by fix cost, not severity
You are a field supervisor for a neighbourhood fresh-produce chain. Below is the list of
findings from my store visit. Re-rank it and give me a fix sequence.
Order by this rule, not by severity:
1. First bucket by cost to fix:
- Do now: a sentence to a staff member, fixed today, costs nothing
- Needs coordination: requires a stock transfer, a supplier call, or a shift change
- Needs investment: equipment, fixtures, or system changes
2. Within a bucket, order by reach (affects every customer > affects one category >
affects one time of day)
Format:
- For the "do now" bucket, give the manager lines to say out loud - spoken register, one
line each, not written-report register
- For the other two buckets, give the finding, a suggested owner, and a suggested deadline
- Finish with a single line: the one thing to watch from this visit, and why that one
Constraints:
- Do not add findings I did not list
- Do not write "recommend more staff training" - that is true of every store
- Do not grade findings as severe / moderate / minor. I want an execution order.
Why it is written this way
Severity ranking sounds right and fails in practice: the manager does the easy ones and the hard ones never move. The supervisor's real value is not finding problems - anyone can find problems - it is getting a few things actually changed by tomorrow.
The "spoken register" requirement is there because supervisors usually get stuck on how to say it, not on whether to say it.
